Meet Andie, Morgan, Jose, and Michael! They are four more of the 14 new CLC student tutors who joined our staff in the Writing Center this fall. As part of our Peer Writing Tutor Program, they are taking a 3-credit English class, English 260 (Intro to Writing Center Theory and Practice) while they work their first semester as writing tutors.

What is one strategy you use to get over writer’s block? I free write. I also try to find one word or phrase and write a paragraph around it.

What is one surprising thing we should know about you? I am actually terrified of people. I’m afraid of being judged, thought of as weird, and being disliked by my peers.

How long have you been at CLC? This is my 2nd year here.
What is one strategy you use to get over writer’s block? One strategy I use to get over writer’s block is taking some time to step back from the piece I am writing. I have often taken a few hours break and within that time have found something that jerks me back into my train of thought.

What food can you not stop eating? ice cream

The most recent show I started watching is Suits on Netflix. If you love drama but want to get away from the traditional crime show, this is for you.

What is one surprising thing we should know about you? I can make a clover with my tongue.

What is one surprising thing we should know about you? For some reasons, I just hate the state of Oregon for no reason. I haven’t even visited the state.

How long have you been at CLC? Going on my second academic year!
What is one strategy you use to get over writer’s block? I will take a break from writing to do an activity I love such as listening to music, and come back to writing once I’ve kind of “reset.”

What food can you not stop eating? Not food, but I can’t stop getting a Thorntons fizz freeze. They are soooooo good!
Recommend a book, graphic novel, movie or TV series that you have enjoyed recently:You have to check out “The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes” book. It’s extremely descriptive and a good read!
If your life had a theme song right now, what would it be? Vienna – Billy Joel
What is one surprising thing we should know about you? I’m a huge music person. I’ll listen to anything and everything and listen to music at anytime of the day. I go to concerts and try to learn instruments. Music is love; music is life.
