Whether you just graduated a few years ago or worked for us back in the early 2000’s, we want to hear from you! The CLC Writing Center will be celebrating its 40th birthday soon, and we’re hoping to commemorate this milestone year in several ways.
- Organize a Zoom networking event in October 2025 involving CLC tutor alumni and current peer writing tutors. This is a chance for tutor alumni to reflect on and share how they have used their experiences as a writing tutor in their career journey after CLC. In addition to helping our our current staff, this will also be an opportunity for tutor alumni to renew or make new connections with each other.
- Start a Tutor Alumni Spotlight Column on our blog that will run bi-weekly for the 2025-2026 academic year! We’ll be looking for tutor alumni to either write their own pieces or respond to quick set of reflective questions.
- Conduct a CLC Writing Center version of the Peer Writing Tutor Alumni project. This research project, which involves surveys as well as individual and focus group interviews with former peer tutors, is something I (Jenny) have been wanting to do ever since I collaborated with a group of former tutors to present at the Midwest Writing Center’s Association (MWCA) in 2016. (Shout out to Amanda Collins, Rosario Colin, Mike Hulyk, Keane Mayer, and Lucien Charland for inspiring this presentation!) Data from this research will be used to help us better understand and argue for the benefits of community college students working as peer writing tutors—both here at CLC and beyond.
To participate in any (or all) of these activities or simply to get regular updates, please take a few minutes to complete our Summer 2025 Tutor Alumni Survey:

Answering these questions will help us update our Tutor Alumni database, get a sense of who is interested in doing what, and in many cases, learn what you are doing and how you are doing (because we ARE curious!)
