Got writing deadlines looming? Got essays needing revision? Are you trying to finish your final research project in any CLC class?

Getting writing done can be hard in the best of times.  The Covid-19 pandemic has made it even more challenging to sit down in front of the computer and focus.  We know.

The CLC Writing Center team is here to help with a two-day Virtual Write-In.

What’s a Write-In?

A Write-In is a community event where writers join together to get writing done—whether it’s for an hour or two hours or ten—and help to keep each other accountable.  The idea is that when you are working with a group of fellow writers, it is easier to fight procrastination and keep your butt in your chair and your hands on the keyboard.

We are joining writing centers from across the United States and abroad to offer space and support to encourage writers to tackle (and not procrastinate on) end-of-semester writing projects.   Our virtual CLC Write-In is open to any CLC students, staff, or faculty who want to make progress on a writing task and is being offered over two days.

Night Against Procrastination

Virtual Write-In

Night #1:  Wednesday, December 2, 2020

5:00 pm – 10:00 pm

Zoom Link Meeting ID: 964 4585 1973      Passcode: 114065

Night #2:  Thursday, December 3, 2020

5:00 pm – 10:00 pm

Zoom Link:  Meeting ID: 919 7046 4378     Passcode: 304659

Logistics:  Writers will check in, set a writing goal, and then choose one of several breakout rooms depending on the writing environment they prefer—absolute silence or low-fi hip hop.  In addition to writing-focused break-out rooms, there will be rooms where writers can take a break to talk with other writers and/or take part in some de-stressing activities.

Logging Time Spent Writing and Door Prizes:  Of course, we want to give you some incentive to keep writing.  For every hour you spend working, you will earn a ticket to our raffle for a $75  Amazon Gift Card. If you attend both nights, you have a better chance of winning.  In addition, we will be doing drawings for door prizes throughout the evening on both nights.

Proof of Participation E-mails:  If you are a teacher and you’d like to encourage your students to participate, we can provide proof of participation.  If you are a student and you want us to let your teacher know you attended, just give us that information when you first sign in.

Need a writing tutor?  Our online Writing Center will also be open until 10:00 pm both nights so if you have a quick question or want to try to schedule a session, our Write-In staff can help get you connected.
