Are you applying for scholarships through the CLC Foundation?
Are you writing a SAP (Satisfactory Academic Progress) appeal to submit to Financial Aid?
Are you transferring to a four-year university and procrastinating on your admissions essay?
We got you!!!!
In addition to providing support and coaching as you work on writing for your classes, tutors in the CLC Writing Center can help you with ANY school-related writing: scholarship applications and essays, transfer essays, and even SAP (Satisfactory Academic Progress) appeals. You don’t have to do anything special. Simply schedule an appointment through Navigate for an in-person or online session. You can also submit a draft for written feedback.
Please bring the prompt or prompts you were given to respond to because that information is important for the tutor to provide effective feedback. Just like an assignment sheet in a class, those prompts provide important information about what the readers of this essay or application are looking for.
Last year, we worked with the CLC College and Career Navigators to create a helpful video for high school seniors about things to consider as they applied for scholarships at the College of Lake County. Though the original audience is high school students, the suggestions apply to any level of student writing essays as part of the scholarship application process.
If you have questions or want to know more about how we support writers working on scholarship and transfer essays, please contact Dr. Jenny Staben, Faculty Coordinator of the Writing Center, at jstaben@clcillinois.edu or Brigette Dumblauskas, Writing Center Specialist, at bdumblauskas@clcillinois.edu.
